Our Story

That had us stumped. Back in 2010, we were out and about with our plump pug, Henrietta, and fancied a nice drink and bite to eat that would welcome both us and her.

It was far more challenging than we expected!

And so, in 2012, we opened The Fat Pug. Filling the gap in Leamington Spa of a pub that served pub food for the 21st century, local beer, and great smiles for anyone who wandered in - especially if they had a dog.

What Henrietta believed - and is partly true - was that we built a hangout for her and her friends. We just didn’t realise how many pugs were actually in the local area!

Of course, you don’t need to have a dog to enjoy breakfasts, hearty pub food, gins from all over the world, or just a pint and the ‘paper.

Just expect to get a funny look from the pups who are there, who might wonder why you’ve come in without one!

From our humble spot on the corner of Rugby Road and Guy’s Cliffe Road, we quickly became a favourite of local residents.

Whether it's banter from the bar team, a warm welcome from our pug, or a live act performing in the snug, The Fat Pug has been entertaining our lovely neighbours and Leamington Spa ever since we opened the doors - not least with Pugstock

For as long as there are pugs that need a place to chill, you’ll always be welcome to head over.
